Can’t say I’ve had many bad times in Berlin, but we just had another good one. This time the occasion was Tim and Miri’s wedding.

We stayed at Habyt – The Waterfront in Frierichshain/Ostkreuz (near Ostrkreuz station) which, aside from a pretty small room, was perfect.
On the Friday of our arrival we had a nice walk up to Boxhagnerplatz to soak up sunny, weekend vibes. There, we enjoyed a park beer before going for a lovely Japanese meal at nearby Iro Izakakya.
On the day of the wedding we started with a filling brunch back in Friedrichshain at 44 Brekkie. Then back to the hotel, into our outfits and on to Dock 10 for the wedding. It was so great to hang out with Lars & Steffi, Oliver & Steffi (the other one!), Thomas & Lisa, Maik… and of course the happy couple, Tim & Miri!
The location on the Spree river was fantastic and we were treated to an amazing lunch of grilled delights and salads.
Among some of the other folks we met were a lovely couple who work in the world of modular synths (I’ll need to tell Tom and Jason) and Tim’s best “whisky friend”, who is a proper connoisseur and regular visitor to Scotland.
It was a beautiful day.
On Sunday we had some time in the morning and early afternoon to hang out with Oliver, Steffi and Karl. We met for breakfast at La Maison then had a leisurely walk around their old stomping ground in Kreuzberg next to the Landwehr Canal. From there we went for a boat trip since once again the weather was great. This took us past the Reichstag and Tiergarten and back to the Museuminsel.
Later, Clair and I visited the DDR museum. I enjoyed the section on why the allotment garden became so central to life.
We finished the day and the weekend with a visit to the Fotagrafiska then up the stairs to Veronika for dinner where we had a delicious meal (Lars’s excellent recommendation).
